Which Meta Quest should I buy in 2025?

Do I need a PC or phone to use a Meta Quest?
No. Meta Quest headsets are standalone and work without a PC. You use a phone with the Meta Horizon app for initial setup, but VR runs entirely on the headset. You can optionally connect to a gaming PC for PC VR.
What is mixed reality (passthrough)?
Mixed reality uses the headset's cameras to show your real surroundings in full colour, then overlays digital objects on top. The Quest 3 and Quest 3S both support colour passthrough.
Is VR safe for children?
Meta sets a minimum age of 10 and offers parent-managed accounts and controls. Supervise use, keep sessions short and ensure a clear play space. There is no proven long-term harm for adults.
