Keep your headset hygienic and your lenses scratch-free with this simple care routine.
Cleaning the lenses
Never use alcohol or window cleaner on VR lenses — it can strip coatings. Use a dry microfibre cloth and wipe gently in circular motions from the centre outward. For stubborn smudges, lightly dampen the cloth with water only.
Protecting the lenses
The number one rule: never leave your headset where sunlight can hit the lenses. They act like magnifying glasses and direct sun can permanently burn the display in seconds. Store it face-down or in a case, away from windows.
Keeping it hygienic
Wipe the facial foam with a non-alcoholic antibacterial wipe after sweaty sessions, or fit a washable silicone cover. Replaceable foam interfaces are cheap and worth swapping periodically, especially if multiple people share the headset.
General maintenance
Store controllers without leaving them in direct sun, remove batteries if storing for months, keep firmware updated, and transport the headset in a padded case. A little care keeps a headset like new for years.
