Why cast?
Casting mirrors your in-headset view to a TV or phone so friends and family can watch, cheer you on, or take turns. It's also handy for recording gameplay and for helping someone new learn an app.
Cast to your phone
In the headset, press the Meta button to open the Navigator, open Quick controls, select Cast and choose Mobile, then follow the prompts. You can also start a cast from the Meta Horizon app. Your phone screen now mirrors the VR view. It's the most reliable method and works anywhere.
Cast to a TV
From the same Cast menu in Quick controls, nearby compatible devices appear as options. Support for casting directly to TVs depends on your TV and the current headset software, so if your TV does not appear, cast to your phone or a computer browser and show that on the big screen instead.
Troubleshooting
If casting fails, make sure the headset and target device are on the same Wi-Fi network, restart the cast, or fall back to casting through the phone app. If your router offers two bands, make sure both devices are on the same one.
Cast to a computer browser
Meta's casting article lists Web as a casting option alongside Mobile and nearby devices. Choose Web in the Cast menu and follow the prompts to open the casting page on your computer. Both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi network and signed in to the same Meta account. This is a handy way to show the view on a TV connected to a laptop.
Official troubleshooting
Meta's casting troubleshooting article recommends signing in to the Meta Horizon app with the same account as the headset, checking both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, restarting the headset, phone and router, and updating software.
