The PICO 4 is the closest thing to a Quest rival. Here's how the two ecosystems compare.

Hardware: a close fight

On paper the PICO 4 is impressive: pancake lenses, a high 2160×2160 per-eye resolution, colour passthrough and an exceptionally comfortable, balanced design with a rear battery. As pure hardware it goes toe to toe with — and in comfort beats — the Quest 2 and even rivals the Quest 3.

Software and ecosystem

This is where Meta wins. The Quest store has the largest, most polished VR library, the biggest social platforms and the strongest developer support. The PICO store is growing but smaller, with fewer must-have exclusives.

Availability

The PICO 4 is widely sold in Europe and Asia but has limited official availability in the US, where the Quest dominates. For many buyers, that alone settles the decision.

Who should pick which

If you live where the PICO 4 is sold and prioritise comfort and hardware value, it's a great choice. If you want the biggest game library, the strongest ecosystem and easy availability, the Meta Quest remains the safer pick.
